Jilles van Weenen

Turnaround manager at Nobian Delfzijl

Jilles van Weenen, who joined Nobian in January 2022, exemplifies empowerment. As a project leader, he was immediately tasked with overseeing the major shutdown of a brine purification plant, leading a diverse team of both seasoned and new members.

Proper planning

The project demanded creativity and a keen eye for detail to complete as many tasks as possible within budget, resulting in significant savings. Jilles emphasizes: “Good planning is incredibly important.” The shutdown faced weather challenges, with rain and wind complicating lifting and coating work. However, Jilles reflects, “With a creative plan, ensuring safety, and the necessary patience, it eventually worked out.” This showcases the continuous improvement and innovative spirit of Nobian employees.

With a background in Mechatronics, Jilles values the hands-on approach at Nobian, contrasting it with his previous office-based engineering role. He enjoys taking ownership and seeing the direct impact and results of his projects. Jilles says: “At Nobian, it’s about practice. This direct connection with execution was one of the main reasons for me to work here. You see the results and impact of the projects directly. I really like this!”
