Nobian in Denmark

An empowered and highly motivated staff operates the drilling field, located south-west of Hobro, connected with a 26 km underground pipeline to the plant in Assens where evaporation processes deliver various types of salt, leveraging a flexible energy production, including grid balancing services.

The high-quality salt is supplied globally to the pharmaceutical industry and in Europe to customers within feed and food, the electrolysis industry and deicing.

At the site, we have one of our key customers - Mariager Salt Specialties A/S - in a direct connected off-take. The rest of the production is shipped from our own harbor, situated by one of Denmark's most beautiful fjords, Mariager Fjord.

Our work and projects

At Nobian/Dansk Salt A/S, we are fully committed to implementing our sustainability strategy, Grow Greener Together. Our primary objectives include delivering timely and exceptional customer service, contributing significantly to the green transition, ensuring environmental stewardship, and continually nurturing the growth of our employees and the local community, in which we all play an integral part. Nobian’s four values serve as our guiding principles.

Recently, we have installed an E-boiler for steam production which will reduce fossil emissions for the salt manufacturing process.

The MVR extension of salt production capacity project aims to enhance the efficiency and output of salt production through innovative mechanical vapor recompression technology. This initiative not only increases production capacity but also significantly reduces energy consumption and environmental impact, contributing to a more sustainable industrial process.

Green Hub Mariagerfjord

In the Green Hub Mariagerfjord project, we foster collaboration between local industries to enhance sector coupling among industrial companies, energy production, and district heating. By focusing on small, impactful steps, this initiative creates value through cross-sector collaboration, driving sustainable development and energy efficiency in the region.

We are also proud of our Flex-department with special care and of our strong collaboration with Mariagerfjord Municipality and Mariager Saltcenter

Plug and abandonment of HV5 cavern

The Plug and Abandonment of HV-5 project involved the process of safely sealing and decommissioning a well to prevent any environmental hazards. Here we employed the double barrier principle, ensuring robust protection. Utilizing 75 m³ of cement, we set five individual plugs, providing secure and long-term stability for the abandoned cavern.
