Your challenge

As an Environmental & Permits Specialist, you support the Senior Environmental & Permit Manager in steering our environmental and permit portfolio. You are responsible for obtaining and safeguarding all relevant permits needed for large capital projects and other business-critical initiatives. Your role involves coordinating between departments, site representatives, external consultants, and relevant authorities to ensure flawless permit procedures. You provide operational advice, conduct internal audits, and manage permit revisions to safeguard our license to operate. Additionally, you identify and evaluate emerging environmental legislation and trends on national & European basis, advising on threats and mitigation opportunities.

Your responsibilities

  • Obtaining and safeguarding all relevant permits for large capital projects and business-critical initiatives. This includes environmental permits, water permits, nature preservation permits, etc.
  • Communicating with internal and external stakeholders (pertinent authorities, economic affairs, governments, inhabitants) on permitting and regulatory affairs. 
  • Providing site support on environmental topics and compliance-related issues.
  • Supporting and executing stakeholder management.
  • Conducting internal audits and managing permit revisions to maintain regulatory compliance.

The location of this position is flexible, with the possibility to work from home. We expect you to travel to our production locations in Rotterdam, Delfzijl or Hengelo or work from our headquarters in Amersfoort. In this role, you report to the Senior Environmental & Permit Manager.

Have you got what it takes?

As an Environmental & Permits Specialist, you have in-depth knowledge of regulatory compliance and permitting processes including Seveso, IPPC and EED. You have excellent verbal and written communications skills, and you are a team player with good coordination skills. Furthermore, you recognize yourself in the following points:

  • MSc qualification in Environmental Technology, Chemical Engineering or in a technical area.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Manufacturing, HSE, or HSE Consultancy, preferably within the (petro)chemical industry
  • Fluency in Dutch and English.
  • Ability to understand regulatory, societal and political sensibility.
