Process design engineer with focus on automation
This is a multi-facing role that involves you in the broad and challenging areas of Research & Development, Technology, Engineering, Business and Manufacturing. Your particular focus is the initiation and implementation of projects that will lead to automation of our plants. Typical types of projects are energy efficiency improvements, production growth projects, or new business support. Many of your projects will relate to sustainability improvements, helping us to reach our target of being carbon neutral in 2040. 
As process engineer with focus on automation, your role is to develop and implement a higher level of automation (e.g., could be state-based control, advanced process control, start/stop automation, e-flex implementation on all relevant sites) in different parts of Nobian’s existing assets and new facilities.

Your responsibilities

  • Maintain, develop and actively share the process engineering skills with focus on automation;
  • Generate new ideas, proposals, concepts regarding automation and bring them to next stages;
  • Lead automation projects and support further until CSU when needed;
  • Support of the plant process engineers with focus on automation
     

You will work as part of multi-disciplinary teams in order to deliver cost-effective solutions on time, on target and on budget. In particular you create and develop relevant know-how and best practices to improve our processes.


All of this requires the ability to carry out and lead projects, while working collaboratively across boundaries. As such, the role demands strong people, communication and interpersonal skills, and the credibility to act as a convincing and persistent team-player who can build trustful relations.

Have you got what it takes?

Is this a challenge that matches your skills and (international) ambitions? Have you acquired a growing knowledge of process engineering and automation preferably combined with experience on a production site? Additionally, you also have: 

  • Master degree in science and technology, preferably in chemistry or chemical engineering;
  • At least 3 years of working experience with affinity with Process Engineering and Automation;
  • Experience in the Chemical industry across more than one functional area or exposure, in association with external parties;
  • Experience with leading by example in a multicultural project management environment;
  • Excellent internal and external communication & reporting skills, including fluent written and spoken English;
  • Willingness to travel regularly to our production locations in the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark.
